Guided MUSKY FLOAT TRIPS

The French Broad and Nolichucky rivers in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee represent two of the southernmost waters for Esox masquinongy, more commonly known as the muskellunge or musky.  A member of the pike family, these apex predators often grow to lengths of over 40 inches, and although rare, can even grow to over 50 inches in our local waters, making them a true trophy gamefish.  Nicknamed “the fish of ten-thousand casts,” musky are infamous for their elusiveness and their ability to humble even the most experienced anglers.  While there are never any guarantees in musky fishing, we are certain that any encounter with a musky will have your heart racing and your knees shaking.

While we do give the fish a break if the river temperatures reach extreme highs in the summer, the relatively mild summers and winters in the Southern Appalachians allow for fantastic musky fishing almost year round.

During your trip you will have the option of using fly rods and/or conventional tackle.  8 to 12-inch flies and lures are the norm, so anglers should be physically prepared for the challenge of repeatedly casting heavy rods throughout the day.  In addition to the physical challenge, anglers also need to be prepared for the mental challenge as well… enticing a musky to follow and attack your fly requires patience, focus, persistence, and most importantly, a positive mindset.  If you are up for the challenge, we are ready to show you a truly unique fishing experience, and potentially, an opportunity to share a few moments with these amazing top of the food chain predators.
