Delayed Harvest Rivers

A number of medium-size streams within Pisgah National Forest and the surrounding Asheville area are supported by a stocking program that offers year-round fly fishing. The best months to target these waters are between October and June, when catch and release regulations are enforced. Most of the “DH” waters are freestone streams harboring stoneflies, caddis and mayflies. Accessibility ranges from roadside access to a short hike to the river’s edge.
