Guided SMALLMOUTH BASS Fishing TRIPS
The Guided Float Fishing Trip is the most popular among our regular guests. If we had to choose one trip as a favorite, it would be without hesitation, the full day Float Trip for Trout or Smallmouth Bass. No other trip allows you to access over 100 miles of river that is not accessible by foot. That means fewer people, less pressure and the best fishing. In addition to world class fishing, the views are stunning where these mountains and canyons meet big waters.
Guided Smallmouth Bass Trips are our specialty. AFFC is the longest operating guide service on the Nolichucky River with access to over 100 miles of water, guides with at least 15+ years of knowledge and guiding experience specific to the Noli and a large network that allows us to provide a high quality experience that is unmatched. AFFC has private exclusive access points and a riverside Safari Base Camp located on a 10 acre flower farm on the Nolichucky River. We primarily target smallmouth on the fly but offer conventional spin tackle as an alternative. Summer months are topwater time and best suited for the multi-day with safari camp or single day trips. Cooler months require subsurface flies and presentations. We prioritize using best practices in our guide tactics for conservation purposes. We rotate sections and don’t fish the same water weekly to spread out pressure. On conventional tackle trips, we use single hooks only and recommend not using treble hooks. We’ve tested various methods in all conditions and have 20+ years of logged data to reference. We enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to educate and share the wonders of biodiversity in nature with our guests.
In additions, we have access to over 400 miles of pristine water among four large river systems surrounding Asheville NC. We enjoy going the extra river miles for our guests and offer trips on various rivers and water types to accommodate any experience level or preference.
Since 2017, AFFC specializes in unique Multi-Day Trips with Safari Camp style lodging and a private chef, in addition to Smallmouth Bass Whitewater trips, both with the option of Overnight accommodations. These trips are a true wilderness experience.
AFFC is the only guide service in the area with special permits and the highest level of safety certification allowing us to access the Nolichucky River Gorge and French Broad River - Section 9 which are both full of Class III+ / IV rapids.
